Best Padel Shoes (2026): How to Choose + Top Picks

Image

Padel is a game of short sprints, sudden stops and lots of side-to-side movement, usually on artificial grass with sand on top. The wrong shoe slides out from under you or rolls your ankle. The right one grips, supports and lasts. This guide explains how to choose padel shoes (sole, sizing, support), then lists the padel shoes we have in stock right now. For a deeper look at why running shoes are a bad idea, see Padel Shoes: How to Choose, and Why Running Shoes Do Not Work.

The 30-second answer

How to choose padel shoes

1. Sole: clay (herringbone) vs omni

Most padel courts in the US are artificial grass filled with sand. On that surface you want a clay-style herringbone sole (zigzag tread). It bites into the sand for grip but still lets you slide a little and change direction safely. An omni sole uses small studs or nubs and grips harder on courts with lots of sand, but can feel sticky on worn or low-sand turf. If you are not sure, a herringbone or "all-court" padel sole is the safe choice for most clubs. Avoid smooth running soles: they have no lateral grip on sand.

2. Support: lateral stability first

Padel is mostly sideways movement. Look for a firm heel counter, a stable midsole and side reinforcement (a chassis, shank or wall around the forefoot) that stops your foot rolling over the edge of the sole. Players with a history of ankle issues or who play several times a week should favor the stability models below.

3. Cushioning and weight

More cushioning helps on long sessions and is easier on knees; lighter shoes feel faster at the net. Most players are happiest in the middle.

4. Sizing

All sizes on our site are US sizes. Padel shoes should fit snug at the heel and midfoot with about a thumb's width of space in front of your longest toe, since your foot slides forward when you stop. If you are between sizes, most players go up half a size, especially if you wear thicker padel socks. Try shoes on in the afternoon, when feet are slightly larger.

FAQ

Can I play padel in tennis or running shoes?

Running shoes, no: they have no lateral support and their soles slide on sand. Tennis shoes with a clay or all-court herringbone sole can work, but padel shoes are tuned for artificial grass and sand.

Clay or omni sole for padel?

For most US clubs, a clay-style herringbone sole is the safest all-round choice. Omni soles grip harder on sandy courts but can feel sticky on worn turf.

Should padel shoes fit tight?

Snug at the heel and midfoot, with about a thumb's width in front of your toes. If you are between sizes, go up half a size.

How fast will my shoes arrive?
